Created from a very human question.
I lost my mother on 2 October 2020, just two months before her 92nd birthday. Along with losing her, I realised I had lost my daily anchor. We spoke every day. I checked that she had woken up for the day, was feeling well and was okay. At the same time, she was checking on me, asking where I was (I was a digital nomad for 15 years), making sure I was safe and doing well. After she was gone, I found myself wondering who's going to check on me? Who is going to know where I am? |

Your Coucous
Your Coucous arrive at the times you choose. A fed Coucou means a normal day, and nobody is disturbed. You never feel watched. You just look after your Coucou, knowing that if one day you couldn't, someone would notice. That's the whole arrangement. Quiet, until it matters.
Morning: your Coucou wakes hungry. One tap feeds it, and your day has quietly begun.

What happens if the bird goes hungry?
On a normal day, nobody is disturbed. That's the whole point. But if Coucou is not fed, it acts!

How does it work?
Once you sign up and your Safe People have accepted their role, you'll receive two Coucous each day.
Your Morning Coucou is sent at a time you choose. One tap confirms you're up and okay. If you don't respond, two reminders are sent an hour apart. If the final reminder goes unanswered for 30 minutes, your Safe People are notified.
Your Afternoon Coucou is also sent at a time you choose. Simply select your mood from the options provided. Your chosen mood helps determine whether you may need some support that day.

What are Safe People?
Safe People are the trusted contacts chosen by the user. They are notified if a Morning Coucou is missed after reminders, or if the afternoon mood check suggests support may be needed.
When Do Safe People Get Notified?
When a Morning Coucou remains unanswered after the reminder process, Safe People are sent an alert by SMS with the user’s location and spare key information.
They are also notified if the user registers a ‘Lonely’ or ‘Black Hole’ mood on the Afternoon Coucou and if they activate the SOS button.

Is Coucou constantly tracking people?
No. Coucou is not surveillance. It is a small daily check-in routine, not constant monitoring.
Set Coucou Times (in the App Menu)
You can change the time for your Morning and Afternoon Coucous at any time.
Keep in mind that the Morning Coucou is not an alarm as such, and two reminders will be sent to you at one hour intervals until it is activated, just in case you do sleep in!

What happens if everything is fine?
Nothing. That is the point. The Coucou is answered, no one is disturbed and everyone has peace of mind. No news is good news!
SOS Button
The SOS button sends a text to your Safe People to get in touch with you ASAP. So if you find yourself in an emergency or need help straight away then this is the button! There is also an option to share your location too!
